[Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects]

The Signing Ceremony for the Project for Construction of Girls’ Hostel at Meatu Secondary School in Meatu District, Shinyanga Region,

the Project for Construction of Igaga/Itilima Dispensaries in Kishapu District, Shinyanga Region, and the Project for Construction of Homboza Dispensary in Kisarawe District, Coast Region

On 13 November, 2008, the Government of Japan has extended grant aid up to US$ 262,391 (approximately 295 million Tanzanian Shillings) for the following three projects through the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). The contracts for the projects were signed between H.E. Mr. Makoto Ito, Ambassador of Japan and the representatives of the respective organizations.

The Project for Construction of Girls’ Hostel at Meatu Secondary School in Meatu District, Shinyanga Region;

a grant worth up to US$ 87,802 (approximately 99 million Tanzanian Shillings) to Meatu District Council for construction of Girls’ hostel at Meatu Secondary School in Meatu District. The project is expected to improve educational environment to benefit 80 girls at the school.

The Project for Construction of Igaga/Itilima Dispensaries in Kishapu District, Shinyanga Region;

a grant worth up to US$ 86,218 (approximately 97 million Tanzanian Shillings) to Kishapu District Council for construction of Igaga/Itilima Dispensaries in Kishapu District. The project is expected to improve health care to benefit about 14,000 residents both in Igaga and Itilima villages, and nearby villages.

The Project for Construction of Homboza Dispensary in Kisarawe District, Coast Region;

a grant worth up to US$ 88,371 (approximately 99 million Tanzanian Shillings) to Lumbesa Group (local NGO) for construction of Honboza Dispensary in Kisarawe District. The project is expected to improve health care to benefit about 40,000 inhabitants in Homboza Village and Msimbu Ward.
